Mornings are my creative time

These are all early morning creations.  I’ve never been a morning person and I’m not really one now;  there are things going on in my life that are very stressful and I find myself awake at 3:00 a.m. and can’t get back to sleep.  Making these rings is cathartic.

I love the picture of my granddaughter’s hand and this ring I made especially for her.  Its little eyes are looking at me.

My ears are ringing

I awoke this morning with  a ringing in my ears…too much sugar the night before perhaps.  But while I’m up and the creative juices are flowing, I thought I’d try fun funky rings again.  After two failed attempts, I’m feeling pretty content with these two–which  are the same basic ring, with just  few additional bends, twists, and turns to add the beads.  Today I’m shopping for a tumbler.

I feel just like a kid back in school now that I have returned to my craft table.  I’m relearning how to make pretty things and my favorite thing to do is bending wire.  So visceral.

Welcome to my first blog post for Pretty Metals!

Good morning everyone!

It is 6:30 a.m. this beautiful summer morning  and I’ve been awake for about 2 hours thinking important thoughts about family, life, love, and all that stuff; but mainly I’ve been thinking about what do I really want to do with myself now that I am retired.  Okay, so I retired a little sooner than I thought I would because of the need to focus on my family and some health issues that arose some  years back; but I’m retired and it is a good thing.

As I surveyed in my mind my numerous projects started and stopped, my various hobbies and interests, I kept coming back to the one thing that brought me so many hours of joy, relaxation, and satisfaction–making jewelry.  Aha!  That’s it!  Now it begins.

Stay tuned…BrendasJewelry080810-01
